Sri Swami Sivananda made his debut into the spiritual field as a first rank Sankirtanist, no less than a thrilling speaker and exponent of Hindu Dharma. He shot through like a meteor, and broke the record in the Sankirtan field singing his Inspiring Songs and Sankirtans before crowded audiences and fully packed Hari Sankirtan Mandals. He, unlike any other spiritual leader, composed his own songs in half English, half Sanskrit and half Hindi, and being gifted with a highly musical and melodious voice, he captured the hearts of the devotees, who danced with him in such ecstasy that they cast off all shyness in singing the glorious Names of the Lord. Thus his Inspiring Songs came to be popularly known as "Injection Dhwanis" which like the injections of an eminent doctor, went straight into the system and turned confirmed atheists into eternal theists, and won for him universal appreciation and recognition as Sankirtan Samrat.
