Jack's back! And this time he must face a terrifying supernatural threat from Europe's recent past. Someone has been mad enough to revive the most terrifying evil of the last 60 years. And only one man is bad enough to stop them. Eagle Rising takes Jack to the rotten heart of big business and the dark secrets of a neo-nazi magical sect intent on giving the world back to a terror from the darkest days of the 1940s. Jack must infiltrate the closed corridors of big business and reach the core of a conspiracy amongst some of the most high-pwered city executives in the country. A cabal of business men with occult interests and an insane hunger for the return of an old and dark order. Described as a mix of Dennis Wheatley and Ian Fleming Devereux lives up to the billing with his new novel.… (mehr)

Uninvolving storry. Uninvolving hero. Throw in a dash of torture. Make the bad guys really revolting, so they deserve what the good guy has to to to them. Make the good guy make some passing reference about how it bothers him that he had to do what he did. Not recommended. ( )

A page turner in the best sense: a fun, suspenseful read. Perfect for anyone who wants to turn their brain off for an hour and enjoy a boy's own adventure - albeit with extreme violence, demons and scary neo-nazis. ( )

I actually really enjoyed this story of an occult spy in England. A man whose best friends are ghosts in a graveyard and who has put a lot of people in various graveyards.

He's not a nice man, Jack, he can't be. This time he's tasked to get himself into a neo-nazi group and find out what they're up to, when he does find out he has to work out how to stay alive and how to deal with the miscreants in such a way as to make it not happen again.

There are some quite brutal scenes in this, but also some moments where I laughed out loud. It's something like if James Bond and Dexter met the Occult and Magic and had a bastard love-child. ( )

I got this one as a prize and to be honest it is not really my thing.
A fairly light tale of government spook work with a slight magical edge. But nothing that really grabbed my attention.
Not that it is bad, just not something that makes me want to go out and buy more. ( )

... sloppily written and dramatically unrealised. The novel has one redeeming feature: it's short.

Slow, sure and silent, moving hand then foot, making my way up the wall. A slip would be embarrassing - nobody wants to be captured at the bottom of a wall with their legs broken. People would laugh. Four stories to climb and all the time in the world to do it. The first storey's barely work, and the second's easy enough. By the third my fingers are starting to let me know that they're not overly keen on holding two hundred pounds of bastard, and by the fourth they're considering forming a union and going on strike. Lucky for me they're about as organised as any other union and are still trying to elect a shop steward by the time I get to the top.
