Of all the light airplanes built in America since the 1930s, the Cesna series of monoplanes has emerged as one of the best known today to both airman and layman alike, spreading their wings to serve the needs of flight training, charter, corporate, private agricultural and military aviation for over 50 years. The purpose of this book is to illustrate the Cessna airplanes built from 1946 through 1986 in a pictorial format, one that lends itself to the interest of the weekend pilot as well as the hero historian. In the half century since the Model C-34 took flight and ushered the company into its second era, six basic families of airplanes were created, designed to cover a wide spectrum of the general aviation marketplace. Each series of airplanes are presented as follows: 100 series, 200 series, 300 series, 400 series, 500 series, 600 series. In addition, information is included regarding experimental models that were built and flown, but because of flight performance, economic or market considerations were not given production status. The reader will find information conveniently grouped for each model and its derivative that pertains to year of introduction, price, quantity produced and general specifications. When applicable, additional information on a specific model or other notes of interest will be included. Appendix A contains footnotes pertaining to certain models for constructor number blocks. Three-view drawings are included with the text for each major single and multi-engine model.… (mehr)
