( ) Ferrazzi is known as a relationship guru, and this book is like his doctoral thesis. He outlines why it is important to have 2-3 key people in your life who can act as your sounding board when you need someone who will tell it like it is. I agree with the theory. I’m just not sure that it is as easy as he makes it sound to find 2-3 people who you can count on for advice. If you already have a network of people to choose from, then you’ve got a fighting chance. But, if you don’t, you’ve got a much longer runway to get down before you can take off. That said, you should start making your way down the runway. Just because something is hard doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Overall, this book promted me to look into the way I think about forming relationships in business and in my personal life. The underlying concept of finding people in my life who truly have been put there to mentor and support me is invaluable--and to help choose those I can help is also key. Too often, I think of my"friends" as those who can help me move forward in life, when it sometimes is completely the opposite...I liked the blue print Ferrazzi provides to understand how to look for and choose those we invite into our lives.
