When nighttime creeps closer to suppertime and the sky is that certain deep blue, then it's time to get ready for Halloween!

Getting ready for Halloween and Fall is what this book is all about. It is people putting corn on their door, skeletons on doors, and cutting out witches to put on the walls. The illustrations are bright and cover all the pages fully while the text lies within the picture. This aspect makes it visually appealing if using the book for a read-aloud. The children enjoy pointing at all the things they find in the picture. The children in the book also get their Halloween costumes ready and it is fun to have the children guess what they are going to be. I would recommend this for a prek read aloud book. ( )

Debut author Tom Brenner has written a charming story about Halloween and the days leading up to it. And Then Comes Halloween follows several children as they prepare for Halloween night. As the days grow shorter and the morning air turns chilly, there are paper witches to be cut out, pumpkins to be carved, and costumes to be made. When Halloween arrives, it’s time run out into the night with friends and knock on doors. Finally, when it’s time to go home, the children learn the fun is not over yet; now it’s time to trade and share.

The Bottom Line: "And Then Comes Halloween" is a gentle tale about the joys of autumn and the preparation for the Halloween celebration. Youngsters will identify with the activities of the children featured in the story. Holly Meade’s watercolor and collage illustrations subtly set the tone for the holiday. This book is not frightening or spooky; thus, it’s a great introduction to the holiday for children who may be a bit fearful of going out for trick-or-treating. It also features themes of friendship and sharing. "And Then Comes Halloween" is appropriate for little ones in Grades Pre-K – 1.

Children prepare for Halloween by putting out decorations and watching the leaves turn colors. Then, they think of ideas and make costumes. Then, finally it’s time for trick or treating with friends. Then it’s all over, time for bed, and to wait until next Halloween. This is a great read aloud book to start off the month of October. This can help children learn what they should do to prepare for Halloween. ( )

It is about a little girl who shows her insight on Halloween, from birds squawking to wolves howling. Its a great descriptive book for tier two words and I loved it for a read aloud.

The bookk tells about the story of children how to prepare and to celebrate Halloween's Day. They carve pumkins and designe as grin. They also wear custome when they come to other people's house to get candy or something else. Traditional holiday can help these kids relax and learn about culture as well.

“And Then Comes Halloween,” is as sweet a marriage of words and pictures as you could hope for.
