"What if... ?" Whether you were inspired by intuition or simply a gut-feeling, you have made decisions or experienced unexpected events that have shaped you into the person you are today. Thin Threads is a collection of personal, real life stories that capture these moments, enabling us, as readers, to realize our own opportunities when we live in the moment ... in the present. Each of us can recall a time when we came to a fork in the road, and perhaps made the decision to jump instead of duck, zigg instead of zagg, say "Yes!" instead of "No." We all experience moments in our lives when we feel we are just hanging on-holding on to a thin thread. Thin Threads are stronger than you might think. They lead us, they hold us, they connect us, and best of all, they liberate us and allow us to live our lives to the fullest. This collection of stories will help you open yourself up to the potential of your own Thin Threads, and how they can lead you to your destiny! Book jacket.… (mehr)

The concept of this book attracted me, but the execution fell somewhat short of my expectations. The idea as I understood it was that in every life there are turning points, and life thereafter is changed. I hoped that these turning points would be times of decision or moral choice where we go forward as different people. However, this collection contains some of these but mostly stories where things happened to people and they coped. Thus, many of the stories have victims rather than protagonists. I can see where the author could justify using these stories, but it limited the life lessons the reader could take from it. The reviewer who suggested "My Most Unforgettable Moment" had this book well pegged. ( )

This is an interesting compilation of life changing event stories but I am not always getting the "thin thread" in each story. Some of the threads were ordinary, everyday occurrences. Good concept but does not work for me. I probably need to see some extraordinariness in the stories. Or possibly a spiritual take in the lives of the people who told their story. Not sure I will take the time to read the next one. ( )

1st impression? A poor man's Chicken Soup For the Soul.

That being said, I still love books like this. I really enjoy the inspiration I receive from reading about other people's struggles and seeing if I can apply their lessons learned to my own life.

It does seem that the editors try a little too hard to force the term "thin threads" throughout the stories to make it fit the title/theme of the book. That was all explained in the introduction; let the stories tell themselves. ( )

This is a book with 51 true, short stories, each concerning an individual’s success in rising above their horrible or dismal circumstances (or simply singleness) to achieve the life of their dreams. I didn’t care for this book at all. It often seemed so sappy and overly idealistic. The stories often ended with a retelling of what the turning point for the person was, as though the reader would be too ignorant to figure that out for himself. I only enjoyed a couple stories and felt that reading the book was a waste of time. ( )

This is a collection of stories about events in people's lives that were turning points. Some are chance meetings of spouses when it seemed the least likely. There are people whose careers changed because of a single incident.

The stories are sweet though short. After several "How I met my spouse" stories it starts to get a little stale, a little formulaic. Each one is a touching personal story in its own right. The idea of a single moment that changes one's life is an intriguing one, and this book is full of such moments. ( )
