A bit repetitive, but still lots of interesting details. Judith Warner set out to write a book about the over-diagnoses and over-medication of children in society, and came away writing a book about the struggles of parents and their children who suffer from mental health issues. This is an unbiased, fair look at the real struggles many face in dealing with ADHD, autism, depression and anxiety, and bi-polar disorder. Warner is compassionate and forthright as she presents her research findings. She also makes realistic suggestions about ways to improve the diagnoses and treatment of those with mental health issues. The book was thought-provoking and view shifting. Zeige 2 von 2
In "We've Got Issues: Children and Parents in the Age of Medication," Judith Warner has written a brilliant and compelling book, a must-read for any parent who has a child who is miserable and struggling. It is also a must-read for anyone who thinks he knows that childhood mental illness is over-diagnosed and over-treated.
In her provocative new book, New York Times-bestselling author Judith Warner explores the storm of debate over whether we are overdiagnosing and overmedicating our children who have "issues". Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
