This book is a mixed bag. It's less "circus games" than "acting games with a circus theme". Some are quite good, some require specialized (and obscure-- fake bed of nails?) props, some are fully realized games, some are sketches of ideas for games, some require a trained instructor.Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. Cute and interesting little book of circus-style activities for young children. Written with a clear, instructional style.Recommended for early childhood education teachers and anyone who works with preschool/elementary age children. Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. Great idea, lots of options. I used to play "circus" when I was a child so I can imagine it having a market. Not sure how many of the games actually might work for kids, but it's a great assortment of ideas that could be used as a starting point for kid fun! Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. I like this little book. I teach 3,4,and 5 year olds, and there are lots of ideas for quick group activities or for longer projects that might involve some planning. I am always looking for new ideas to challenge the kids, and spice up our meetings and transitions. This book seems to be well organized and has many useful and fun ideas.keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
When the circus isn't in town, children can still enjoy it at a birthday party, summer camp, drama class, or elementary school thanks to this colorful collection of circus-based games and activities. Ideal for children ages four through 12, the book draws on popular circus elements such as acrobatics, clowns, animal numbers, and balancing acts. The games are presented in a clear, simple way, range from ten to 45 minutes in length, and vary in complexity. Each section includes a "circus program" children can use if they want to plan an actual performance. Readily available props are used for some of the games, and costumes are encouraged for all! Noncompetitive and playable without special skills training, the activities in 101 Circus Games for Children provide delightful entertainment for participants and spectators alike. 101 Circus Games is filled with a variety of fun movement activities that would keep children engaged. From juggling to circus clown acts, it encourages imaginative play and art experiences. Children will want to make props and costumes to go along with their circus acts.
Personal Reaction:
As a mom, I immediately thought that this book would be a great resource for planning a circus birthday party! The guests would have a ball rehearsing their acts then performing them for parents.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. This would be a useful tool for children to plan and carry out a parent night where students perform circus acts. It could even be a fund raiser for the school, with each audience member paying a small fee to attend.
2. During the winter months, many ideas could be taken from this book to keep students active even without going outdoors. The whole class could learn to juggle!
