I had high hopes for this book, but the basic problem is that it needed a much more wicked sense of humor combined with a much less dogmatic point-of-view. Nelson is using this approach to flog some of his usual causes rather than an open-mindedly jaundiced take on academia. I can see a book like this from a sort of David-Lodgesque or Randall-Jarrettian point-of-view, and that's what I was hoping Nelson could achieve.
