Very good "second in a series'. The combination of sewing and libraries works for me and I enjoyed the story.

Tori Sinclair is a relative "newcomer" to Sweetbriar, SC but as the head librarian and a member of the Sewing Circle, she is making friends quickly. When the husband of another of the sewing circle disappears, leaving behind a blood trail but no other hints, Tori gets to work to find out what happened, and why.

I will be reading more in this series. ( )

Tori Sinclair, the new librarian in Sweet Briar, South Carolina, accompanies her friend Milo to a town event. While he lines up for the funnel cakes, she gets in line for the newspaper where she discovers that there is a story on page three that has the town rather upset. Colby Calhoun has written an article that revises the town's history. When his wife, the owner of the bakery, returns home one evening with Tori accompanying her, it appears that someone disliked him enough to do bodily harm when Colby is missing, and there is a trail of blood. Other threads in the story focus on people in the town, particularly in the sewing circle. I found the mystery in this one to be very predictable. I liked the project going on at the library to get new books in the hands of nursing home residents better than the mystery thread. Some of the recurring characters are likeable; others are irritating. Tori really had no good reason for involving herself in this investigation, but at least she had the sense to call the police chief to deal with it once she had solved it rather than endangering herself. I'm not in a hurry to read the next installment. ( )

AUTHOR: Casey, Elizabeth Lynn
TITLE: Death Threads

Date Read: 07/21/13
RATING: 4./B
GENRE/PUB DATE/PUBLISHER/# OF PGS: Mystery/2010/Berkley Prime Crime/276 pgs
SERIES/STAND ALONE: #2 Southern Sewing Circle

TIME/PLACE: Present, Sweet Briar/SC
CHARACTERS: Tori Sinclair/librarian

FIRST LINES: Tori Sinclair had always prided herself on being a relatively calm person - the kind of woman who kept a cool head & a professional demeanor at all times.

COMMENTS: Local author, Colby Calhoun, does some research on Sweet Briar that alters the town's past and has more than one resident in an uproar. When Colby disappears soon after, a bloody knife left in his bedroom points to murder. A nice little visit to the women of the Sweet Briar sewing circle-- the characters are the emphasis in this cozy series. ( )

Well I will definitely be reading book one. I love the charm that the book portrays in the southern small town.

Tori (the new town librarian) seems to have a knack for being around when things go awry. But lucky for all around her she has a keen mind for solving the mystery.

When local author Colby Calhoun publishes some new facts about the small town (moonshining), people take offense and he disappears. Most citizens are not pleased about the new facts about the town and blame Colby. In the beginning they are not willing to look for him, but Tori won’t give up trying to solve the mystery.

Surprisingly the “bunny lady” is the key to everything.

Tori Sinclair,Victoria for the elderly Southern ladies, is still settling in as the town librarian and with the help of the sewing circle she is making Sweet Briar her home. But when a news article upsets the townsfolk, she has a hard time seeing the attitude by these some women who embraced her when she was in trouble turn on one of their own.

The ladies realize their error when the author of the article disappears leaving a bloody trail and their friend is left with no answers and need for support.

This story was so fun, the southern ladies were a hoot, and the mystery had enough twists and turns to make it interesting until the end. ( )
