Very christian-focused, about a young woman who is in a relationship with a guy who treats her badly, and how she eventually pulls herself out of this situation. Recommended to me by my grandmother, otherwise I'm sure I woudln't have ever picked it up in the first place. Written in a rather cloying, outdated style. ( ) Meh. My grandmother gave me this book to read, and it was okay, but a bit dated and too overtly religious for my taste. The story is fairly typical - young women fresh out of college returns home to discover that her childhood sweetheart has "changed," and we follow her struggle to decide what to do with her life. There are some "morally challenged "characters - the arrogant boyfriend who becomes interested in a "floozy" who comes to stay in the home where he lives with his mother and aunt, and there is not a lot of depth to most of the people in this book. There are a few things that were surprising to me - while our heroine's love life is, of course, central to the story, she does at times make choices which put herself first, rather than just following the proscribed sexist norms of the day. About half-way through, it becomes clear that the only thing that will "save" our heroine from making bad choices is her faith in God. On the whole, it was an okay book, although I probably won't read any others by this author. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
