Parenthood is such a blessing and so many adults have the pleasure of being parents. However, this story is a little sad and a little happy all in one. Although a couple of Chinese parents had to give their baby away another couple found a blessing. This story truly stuck with me because I have gone through a similar circumstance, my mom was not able to take care of me but my grandparents took me in a treated me just like I was one of their own kids. This is great for a classroom because even though most students have both parents, there are still those who have one or none. This shows that it is ok and that nobody should be ashamed of where or who they are or from. ( ) A poor Chinese family is forced to make a difficult decision surrounding their daughter. They do not have the means that make them believe that they can keep her, so they send her in a box done the river. The moon guides this baby into the lives of a family who is have desired to have a child to love. A family in China barely has enough food to feed themselves so they send their new baby girl off in a basket on the river. The moon guides the baby’s basket to safety. On the other side of the world, a man and a woman prepare their house for a new baby. The two follow the moon’s glow to find the baby in the river. “One summer night in China a baby girl was born. She was perfect. ‘We have barely enough rice to feed ourselves,’ the father said. ‘She should have pretty things,’ the mother said. ‘She should learn to read,’ the father said. They were happy and sad at the same time.” A tender, gentle story of a baby girl whose Chinese parents make an extremely difficult choice; they decide to give up their perfect baby girl for adoption. Halfway around the world, another couple desperately longs for a child to love. Fortunately for all concerned, 'the moon's face glowed on the river, making a path as clear as the night's promise.'
