A comprehensive and good discussion about the role that worship can, does, and should play in the church. Highly recommend for all pastors and laypeople who want a more in-depth look at the topic. ( ) A great introduction for anyone thinking about 'worship' which starts from a great base (Worship that is grounded in God acknowledges that God initiates worship), considers 'worship' to be much more than Vineyard music, and yet ends up being quite practical and helpful. helpful for both those involved in shaping services as well as engaged participants. The helpfulness of the text is increased by the addition of up-to-date bibliography and hints on how to use the book in worship planning meetings with congregational staff or leadership teams. Even though worship will continue to change as the years go by, and Cherry's book may quickly go out of date, for now at least, it seems that we have in this text a useful, practical guide that makes a valuable addition to the work of Ramshaw and others.
The metaphor of an architect is used throughout the book to illustrate how persons responsible for worship in the local church function similarly to architects: They envision the concept, do the ground work, develop a plan, establish the framework, create focal points of beauty, and design it all with a special purpose in mind. In the case of worship, the purpose is for the community to be in relationship with the one true God through Jesus Christ. This book provides a reliable architectural plan for designing worship on a weekly basis. It sets forth basic principles and demonstrates how those principles are conducive to virtually any style of worship practiced today in a myriad of Christian communities. --from publisher description Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
