HOLY CRAP, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED LOVED THIS BOOK!! I felt for Frankie when she lost her baby and I knew that Kevin was bad news for her. I felt sorry that Roland was duped as well as Mai-Lin the Chinese drug lord boss who had tricked Roland by telling him that his parents were dead then adopt him to be his second in command!! The piece of cake was the fortune teller who tricked Mai-Lin and I NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD!!

Lalla Gaines runs a cropdusting business (she's a pilot herself, and is forced to hire a greenhorn pilot late in the season. But something seems 'off' about this pilot....... especially when he drops dead at the company BBQ.

Lots of fun characters, romance is second to the mystery (thank you), and it was an entertaining read.

This was a kind of generic murder mystery, where you have someone who should not be doing any kind of investigating is doing the investigating. There is a love story intertwined and there are quite a few funny parts. The story had some individual flare with some of the details but it was predictable. I would still recommend it for a quick read as it made me laugh.

I picked this up without reading the first two in the series and had no problem reading it as a stand alone. There was fun, wit and a goat named Bruce. And two smart blondes leading the race to solve the mystery. Definitely a series any cozy mystery lover will want to read.

Lalla Bains is a great character, a former NY model comes back to Modesto, CA to help her father with his crop dusting business. She may be facing her forties with misgivings but nobody messes with her family or her reputation. To protect those dearest to her she is willing to snoop into murder(s) until she finds the culprit.

This is an enjoyable series that is fun to read with Lalla's ability to get into LOL situations.

A Dead red Alibi (The Dead Red Mystery Series #4) by R.P. Dahlke

Former model Lalla Bains and her Dad take a trip to Arizona to Look at her new property. Then her Dad disappears and she finds him in the bottom of a mine pit. Also in the pit they also find the local police chief, and it looks like he's been murdered. Soon after a young lady artist if found dead too. Lalla decides to look for the killer and see if the two murders are connected.

A fast paced who-done-it. I like Lalla, she is not perfect, she has her flaws but she is likable. Also Lalla's Dad, he is likable as well. The plot is original, and the story moves swiftly, and has all the makings of a cozy murder/mystery. Everyone is a suspect. A definite page turner.

A Dead Red Cadillac (A Dead Red, #1) by R.P. Dahlke

Lalla Bains, a New York City model is now working on her fathers Crop-Dusting farm in Modesto, California. Her cherished 1958 Cadillac is found in the lake with a retired teacher dead at the wheel. Lalla becomes the number one suspect and she is determined to clear her name.

Lalla is very likable, approaching her fortieth birthday and twice divorced she is not too happy with her life situations. There is drama, suspense, drug running pilots, a cross dresser and a twenty year old murder tying in to her (Lalla's) family.

The story moves along swiftly with some humor as well. The plot is original with twists and secrets that grab your attention and don't let go until the end. Overall the story is a fun read, I feel those who love a great (light) murder/mystery will enjoy, A Dead Red Cadillac

I received an e-copy of this book in return for an honest review.

An excellent mystery and I know I will be searching out the other book in this series. The two cousins, Pearlie and Lalla, who are trying to get their PI licenses are full of life, wit, and courage when the case begins to come to a close. Lalla is the wife of the police chief in Wishbone, AZ so that adds some tension and a little back and forth in the case. Add in her father, and an old case and the plot is set for an interesting whodunit.

The investigator, Ron Barbour, that Pearlie and Lalla are working for to get their licenses is found dead in his home. With him dead how are they going to get their licenses approved. They decide that they will have to solve his murder and then hope the state will give them the license to continue as investigators. As they begin their investigation they realize that maybe Ron was not always on the up and up and that somehow he was tied in with an old case of murder that had never been solved. A young Native American boy breaks into their office and that leads them to the Sheriff of the county and to the Reservation. Suspects are growing to include the mayor of Wishbone, a minster, and a local businessman. But then the suspects begin to disappear and one wonders if the case will ever be solved. Will they get the PI license?

A very intriguing and interesting read. As I mentioned before I plan on looking up the other books in this series. A Dead Red Miracle will keep the reader guessing and reading to find out whodunit.

I love the characters of Pearlie and Lalla Bains. They are witty, courageous and intelligent. Their dream is to become private investigators in Wishbone Arizona. In order to do so they have to intern with another P.I. so they decide to buy his business while interning. Unfortunately Ron Barbour isn't the most honest partner. They discover that he has been hiding cases from them and sometimes fakes information for his clients for a sum. One of those cases was that of a murdered man many years ago - his son is an adult now and wants to know who murdered him.

Ron ends up dead! There are several suspects and even hints that this may go way back to a murder that occurred many years ago. Then a man disappears, someone attempts to kill Lalla, another man is killed.

The atmosphere is tense, so many leads and no real suspects. I have to say the end surprised me. Of all the people that could have done the crimes, I didn't suspect the one that did.

A Dead Red Miracle is 5th in a series but stands alone easily. I have not read the other 4 and it didn't really matter. There was never a lull in the story! I liked the sense of community and family as well and, as mentioned, Lalla and Pearlie are terrific protagonists.

I received this ebook from the author for review purposes.

An enjoyable read which was somewhat reminiscent of Janet Evanovich's earlier Stephanie Plum novels. Lots of twists to keep you guessing what will happen next.

The author has a way with dialog - nothing turns me off like wooden dialog and I didn't have to worry about that here! The mystery is twisty-turny and the lead hunk sweet. Glad it is a series!

Lalla Bains Stone and her cousin Pearlie Mae Bains sought to jump start their careers as private investigators and bought into Ron Barbour's business, agreeing to be silent partners, do surveillance in his two beater cars that he made them buy gas for and when he retired in a couple of months to pay him the balance due. In return, Ron taught them the business and agreed to give recommendations to the state of Arizona in order for them to hen a Native American kid came to ask for him,as he turned to leave, but said Ron had his dad's murderer name! That scumbag was keeping clients from them in order to keep all the money, no wonder the telephones were quiet! Lget their license. Ron was mostly at the bar lately and there weren't any new clients ringing their phone, so walla and Pearlie flew out the door after they located Ron's address to give him a piece of their minds, but when they got to the address, the house looked like it should have been torn down years ago! No one answered the door when Pearlie knocked and Lalla peeked in the living room window to see a man on the floor with what appeared to be blood under his head, then she saw the oven door was open and ran to snatch Pearlie off the porch and headed for their car, only to be knocked to the ground when the house exploded!

R. P. Dahlke grabs readers by the throat with just the first chapter and as more people go missing or found dead, Lalla calls on her husband Sheriff Caleb Stone's help. The plot thickens and Lalla and Pearlie Mae find themselves smack dad in the middle of a cold case with no business, a loan to pay off and a fight for their lives!

After Lalla’s fiancé Celeb is delayed on the way to their wedding Lela spooks and convinces her father to come with her to Arizona to check out a property which was an early wedding gift from her Aunt. Little did they know soon after their arrival they would land in the middle of a whole mess of trouble that would take a whole lot of ingenuity, luck and some help from cousin Pearlie to dig their way out of. Along the way, Lalla learns about herself and why she keeps running away.
I found this book to be very enjoyable and even though I have not read the previous novels which featured these characters I fell easily into the rhythm of their lives. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who likes Who Done It Thrillers or crime mysteries with a humanitarian twist.

I was sad to see this series end. The wedding is finally here for Lalla and the long time boyfriend Caleb. But staying in the theme of Dahlke's writing, something unfortunate has to happen, that being both personal and professional issues. I am thrilled to read the book, and the series, and strongly recommend to read all of them. Is it too much to ask for maybe a movie?

This is the second book in R.P. Dahlke's trilogy about Lalla Bains. I found that the first book was an excellent introduction to the characters we will follow throughout the series. This one sets up the pattern of Lalla being involved with murder and death, and while the character does not express interest in these murders, there certainly is a pull to include her in the investigation. I find that the second book in a trilogy is always the least interesting, and I am in agreement in this case, however, I am enthralled with the series. Please give them all a read.
