Very funny definitions of cricket terms and a fun challenge to find Jeff's 'hook' hidden in his cartoons. An example of one such definition: "Rain - Something that happens when you have scored 550 runs and you've got 'em cold in the second innings at 7 for 84."

Very funny definitions of Australian Rules football terms - funny, but strangely true... Some of them have now changed or no longer apply. For example, Zoning and place kick. Also, it is fun finding Jeff Hook's hidden hook in his humourous illustrations.

Dunstan was a very well known journalist and columnist, particularly known for his support of the Anti-Football League and for writing 'A place in the sun' for the Sun for many years. In these papers he discusses some of the various columns he wrote over a period up to 1968.

This chapter contains an entertaining analysis of Melbourne's football fervour, with plenty of stories, mainly drawn from press sources or personal observations, about the devotion of fans from cradle to the grave, crowd behaviour, and the range of footy merchandise which can be bought or is used to promote products and services. Dunstan also offers an interesting description of fan reactions to the Ron Barassi transfer to Carlton in December 1964, and the suspension of John Coleman on the eve of the 1951 finals.… (mehr)
