In this cute enemies to lovers Christmas novella, Trish is horrified when her middle school bully Ian appears in the window of the shop she owns—now all grown up (and unfortunately good looking—of course.) When he asks if she’ll paint a winter scene on his business’s window to match her own (and doesn’t recognize her to boot) she shows up with the intention of telling him off. But meeting his daughter changes her mind. This was short and sweet with really nice characters. I particularly enjoyed the scenes between Trish and Ian’s daughter. A great one-hour Christmas read!

Charming Holiday Read

I usually find that novellas leave me a bit unsatisfied as, if they are good, I always want to know more. I have to admit that I do want to know more about Trish, Ian and Kelsey , especially what the future holds for them. That is because I was able to really connect with the characters very quickly. While admitting that I want more I also must say that, at the end of the book, I was happy. I absolutely love to read holiday stories from November through New Years. However with decorating, shopping, cooking, baking and entertaining thrown in with normal living I find myself short on time to delve into good holiday books. After a busy day of baking I just wanted to relax with a holiday book I could finish in one evening. Pastels & Jingle Bells fit in perfectly. I would recommend this to friends who like charming romances and are okay with children being a part of the story. There was no sex, no language issue and no violence, though the subject of bullies is part of the story. This is a novella that can be enjoyed by holiday romance lovers teens and up.… (mehr)

This novella collection brings a delightful mix of humor and romance with enough substance for the stories to be memorable, instead of just kind-of cute. They'd make for great Christmas, New Year's, and Valentine's Day reading--though one doesn't need the excuse of a holiday to read them, of course.

"You're disruptive, Miss Beasley... Sound and fury don't necessarily mean substance."
"Neither does sitting on your butt with a book all day."

Aimee Beasley isn't the sort of woman interested in taking life sitting down, as it seems the serious professor Doyle Berkley is doing in Playing Cupid by author Christine S. Feldman. (A professor, Doyle is, but not Aimee's professor, just to make that clear.) This last Heavenly Bites novella wraps up the series nicely after the fashion of its predecessors, with a holiday theme—Valentine's Day, in this case—and a good mixture of "lighter and heavier" ingredients to make for a well-rounded read.

It's a two-for-one romance, really, and can easily be read in one sitting. Or maybe in two, if read in order with its delightful Christmas and New Year's counterparts.
