In 2005, Time named Malcolm Gladwell one of its 100 most influential people. He is the author of three books, each of which reached number one on the New York Times Best Seller list. They are: The Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers. His fourth book, What the Dog Saw and Other Adventures was mehr anzeigen published in 2009. He is a is a British-born Canadian journalist and author. Gladwell was a reporter for the Washington Post from 1987 to 1996, working first as a science writer and then as New York City bureau chief. Since 1996, he has been a staff writer for The New Yorker. Ich bin immer noch beeindruckt von der Geschichte zu Beginn, den Italienern aus Roseto, die nach Amerika auswanderten, um dort eine Gemeinschaft zu gründen, die sich selbst eine Verfassung des Anstandes, des Mitfühlens und der nicht-kompetitiven Ausgestaltung gab. Ein Beispiel im Grunde für alle Gesellschaften, zeitlos schön und richtig.
Gleichzeitig verdeutlichen die Bewohner von Roseto in Amerika jene guten Ausgangsbedingungen, die Erfolg konstituieren. Eine Umgebung, die mitfühlend auf eigene Bestrebungen blickt, die sogar stolz ist, ohne jedoch unnötiges Heldentum zu erwarten. Sie ist die beste Voraussetzung für den Einzelnen um jene Tätigkeiten zu entdecken, denen man leidenschaftlich gerne nachgeht.
Dieses Buch blickt hinter die medialen Inszenierungen von Überfliegertum, es zeigt, dass 99% Transpiration einem Prozent Genie gegenüberstehen, es gibt die 10.000 Regel: jeder, der es auf einem Gebiet zu etwas bringen möchte, muss diese Zeit in kreativem Üben zubringen. Dies gilt z.B. auch für die Beatles, die in Hamburg diese Probe-Übungs-Bühne hatten, auf der sie Tag und Nacht üben und ihre unvergleichliche Musik entwickeln konnten.… (mehr)
