In this Pride and Prejudice tale Darcy had just been released by Anne de Bourgh of their engagement and Darcy's father has given him an ultimatum - marry by the end of the London season or be disinherited. Meanwhile Jane and Elizabeth are visiting the Gardiners, Elizabeth must also be engaged by the end of the season or be made to marry Mr. Collins. Miss Darcy, Wickham and the Bingleys are also in London.
While staying at Hunsford Elizabeth reject Darcy appalling proposal. Unfortunately events overtake them before the letter can be given.
A valuable pair of diamond earrings go missing from Anne de Bourgh's room. While everyone seem to want to find the guilty person, why is Lady Catherine determined to blame Elizabeth. What secrets are Anne, and the Colonel hiding?
Can the situation ever be resolved.

The militia are in Meryton and this includes Wickham, while the Bingleys and Darcy are at Netherfield. But when Wickham is murdered Darcy becomes the main suspect. Who can clear his name and who is the guilty party. Most of the characters from Meryton are here plus a few new characters.
An enjoyable mystery which thankfully I didn't guess, and so I look forward to the next.

I loved it. Wickham got what he deserved, but of course he's causing trouble for poor Darcy even from his grave.
I loved the style and language of the book, it really feels as if it was written in Jane Austen's time. The author made a great effort to emulate the era in which the story is set, and she succeeded with it.
There are no sex scenes and stuff (which so many authors nowadays put into their so-called historical novels); all people behave 'properly' as was due in their time. The solution came as a surprise, at least to me, and it was perfectly believable.
Nancy Peterson did a great job with the narration, all in perfect British English, just like you'd expect the characters to have spoken, and she gave life to all the different characters.
It was an absolute joy to listen to this book, and I'll certainly look out for more books by the author and the narrator.
