A true classic to learning about all sorts of topics ranging from people, animals, history, national geographic always does a great job of putting out real information kids 4-7 can understand and learn about. I also like the fact they include weird but true facts into it, small details matter.

This Nat Geo reader is a short, biographical chapter book that tells the story of Ibn al-Haytham, who discovered that eyes see when light comes into them to create an image. I think this book is a great non-fiction read because it has so many great text features, like boxes with 'words to know,' additional facts, quotes, and captioned pictures. In addition to being a great way to explore concepts of light, it also could foster conversations around the fact that many scientific and mathematic discoveries were by Muslim scholars, even though we only typically hear of European scientists.

This is a much more accessible Hamilton biography than the Chernow version that inspired Lin Manuel Miranda. It is written for children and is organized in a sensible way and provides pertinent details of Hamilton's life. It also has multiple features of nonfiction text, which are beneficial. It includes relevant definitions and background information without seeming condescending. The book includes maps, photographs & illustrations with captions, text boxes, timelines, and headings within the text. There is also a table of contents, quiz, glossary, and index within the book.
