This very simple, attractively drawn life of Ella Fitzgerald would make a nice introduction to a very young future Ella fan.

I'm struggling to understand why the author thought Leonard Cohen, a man whose writings famously mingled spirituality and sensuality, would be a good subject for a book aimed at very young children.

Skip this one and let kids discover Cohen when they're old enough to appreciate his genius.

I really enjoyed this book by Little People Big World. Their books are sometimes hit or miss and this one was definitely a hit. I wish the book had gone over more of Usain Bolt‘s racing career. The tidbit about how he won his first race and how the prize was lunch was very interesting. I wasn’t even aware Bolt had officially retired from racing until reading this book. He made a name for himself and his country.

Simone was a wriggly busy girl with an interesting childhood. She discovered gymnastic while watching others and took her natural abilities to the highest level with good Olympic training and became the winner of many medals. But at one point the fame and expectations of other became too much to bear so she dropped out of competition for a while. When she felt ready, she returned to the limelight and was spectacular once again!
The illustrations are fun, simple, brilliantly colorful, and delightful.

Little People, Big Dreams. Elvis Presley. Tekst: Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara. Illustraties: Ana Albero.

This book would be appropriate for primary ages because of the short length and simple storyline.
This book is a short pictorial biography that follows the life and dreams of author J.R.R Tolkien and the magic behind his stories.
This book is from a series of biographical books which I think would be so beneficial in a younger classroom for history lessons or read-aloud.

I am extremely thankful to the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book before publication.

I grew up loving Hedy Lamarr and her wonderful movies, but my favorite fact about her has always been that she was more than just a pretty face. She was also an amazing inventor and an invention she helped create during World War 2 was the basis for todays' Bluetooth.

She truly was a woman ahead of her times in both her movies and her inventions, and with this wonderful book children will get to learn about this amazing woman.

I absolutely have to thank the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this adorable book. It is absolutely perfect for young ballet fans. It was such a beautifully illustrated story about Anna Pavlova.

This adorable book covered everything from her childhood, her discovery of ballet, and her amazing career. Even as an adult I learned a few things about Anna Pavlova that I didn't know. I would highly recommend this book for little ballerinas and for dance teachers as well.

Ding. Norgay was a mountain climber. He started out as a child who just loved to look at Mount Everest and knew that that it was his mountain. He was the Sherpa helping Edward Hilary reach the top of Mount Everest. It took 20 years, but he did it. This is when I think Little People Big dreams is at its best. When it introduces us to people that are not in standard school history books.

What is there not to like?

For kiddos, any and all. Also interesting to learn more about Bruce Lee, even as an adult! Great series for a young classroom, or for introducing a child to reading as well as to ideas and pathways available to them in life.

Thoughts:
The illustrations are each a full two-page spread, with bright bold colors and simple design (perfect for children!). The details in each spread bring his story to life, like the photo of his parents on the wall of his acting trailer. Little things like that are how to add character depth in such a short format!

The story itself was engaging, because Bruce Lee is an incredibly person and fun to learn about! Even I had a few moments where I went "Whoa!!" and immediately turned to tell whomever was near me the cool fact I learned (Bruce Lee started off as a master cha-cha teacher?! WHILE HE WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL???). This has made me want to learn more about him, or go watch some of his movies! The resources and ideas at the end connect it all back to reality with the family photos and ideas for other reading.

Overall, what a great read and series! I'd love to have this whole set of Little People, Big Dreams in a classroom! I think I know what gifts I'll be getting for my nieces and nephews this year. :)

Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Little People, Big Dreams: J.R.R. Tolkien is a lovingly illustrated book aimed at young children to provide an introduction to Tolkien. It provides you with the essentials of his life and work and is certainly a great book to read out.

Unfortunately, I will have to ask you to absolutely ignore the two pages at the end of the book providing a summary on Tolkien’s life and works due to a rather large number of mistakes and misrepresentations that are surprisingly at odds with the rest of the book.

This book is typical of this series. There is only enough information to give the reader an idea of who Sally ride was. But nothing in depth. Unfortunately for this book, they don’t cover enough things that make one more interested in going and learning about Sally, the first US female astronaut in space. I do like this series but it always just seems to brush the surface and there was so much to Sally Ride that could have been included in this book.

This was a typical Little People Big World book. But is was very well done. I just wish they would mention that Steve died and that his family and others all over the world still do what he did for the protection of animals everywhere.
