Julian Simpson (1) (1972–)

This is for all three seasons and stories of the podcast. It includes The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, The Whisperer in Darkness and The Shadow Over Innsmouth. I like Lovecraft fanfic. The Beebs wrote, and modernized, the bejesus outta all three.

Directly continuing in the saga of the criminally insane Kemp family, but with even more chicanery and backstabbing. Fun in an unhinged kind of way. I assume this is being set up as a longer series.

A little bit confusing in terms of narrative style - lots of scene changes and crazy conversations. Sometimes hard to follow, but not for long. Kemp and company are set up as a lovable (?) family of criminals. They're quirky, crazy and murderous and it mostly works, but not as well as rooting for Walter in Breaking Bad. There's no potentially sympathetic reason for their criminal acitivies.

An early and well-done example of sound design and creation of soundscapes. This is exactly the device that's used to try to wake up our patient in the fugue state. The tie to Pleasant Green is in the number station that is broadcasting on short wave radio - we saw this in Part 2 of the Lovecraft Investigations during the disappearance of Henry Akeley. I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.
