A line-by-line listing of all the railway lines in Austria, both ÖBB and private. Profusely illustrated with photographs, many previously unseen in other publications. Photographs dating from 1937 to the early 1990s, though most are from the post-war years (and there is a reproduction of an earlier, undated postcard). Since this book was published, ÖBB have sold the line on to the Salzburger Lokalbahn.

Many of the photographs were taken of dumped locomotives in various stages of disrepair, but others are shown in working condition. The electrification systems were completely incompatible and Salzburg is some considerable distance from the Italian border. A book of wierd and wonderful railway possibilities that I keep returning to.… (mehr)
