nonfiction. Things learned: how to make fire (carry matches and dry tinder); how to look for water; how to hunt/forage for food; how to build a temporary shelter. If given the choice to consume polar bear liver or seal liver, don't do it--the high vitamin A content is toxic.

Apparently I'm the only one who has read this because there are no ratings, reviews, mentions of it nearly anywhere I can find online, including Goodreads and LibraryThing. Which is a shame, because it strikes me as fairly solid doctrine, and while some components may appear a bit dated, they seem reasonably foundationally sound. So, titled UW, but foreseeing and encompassing IW/AW, and a good resource, IMO. Recommended.

I always love these DoD publications. They're rarely reader friendly, but they're really not supposed to be. They aren't artists, they don't care about layout. It's all about the content, and like virtually all of the dozens and dozens I've read, this one continues in delivering high quality content. Recommended for those interested in the topic...

Interesting, but there were a lot of typos. Also there were two separate plants that had the exact same picture of red fruit. Not really sure which one it belonged to. The pictures were ok, but I don't really see how some of the line drawings would help because they were not very clear.

Some of this my dad taught me and he is former Army.
