- Robert Brennan (1881-1964) was an Irish diplomat and journalist. During the 1916 Easter Rising he commanded the Irish forces in Wexford and was sentenced to death but this was commuted to life imprisonment. Later released he worked in the propaganda department for Sinn Féin and was Director of Elections in the 1918 General Elections where the party won a landslide victory. He opposed the Anglo-Irish Treaty and supported the Republican side during the Civil War. He would subsequently become a founder member of Fianna Fáil and was the first General Manager, and a director of the Irish Press newspaper. For nine years, from 1938-47, he was Ireland's Minister to Washington, stationed in the US. From 1947-8 he was a Director of Broadcasting at Raidio Eireann.
