Jamari's Drum is about a young man who becomes the town rhythm. This young man becomes busy with his new family and caught up with his responsibilities. The sky turns black over the village and the ground is hot, just like the elder said it would happen if the drum was not played. Jamari began to play the beat of the drum and the black sky went away and the ground cooled. This book is about following your values and remembering where you came from.

This is the story of a young boy who learns the ways of drumming like his elders. The drumming is very important to his village. However, the young boy slacks off on his task of drumming and the village starts to face trouble. In the end, the young man remembers the importance of his task and saves his village.

I think this is a great story because it teaches students the importance of tradition and culture. It is a story that allows children to focus on what is important in their own culture, as well as their own family traditions. This is a story about keeping the traditions of a culture alive. Jamari was given the job of playing the djembe, an afican drum, to keep the volcano in his village calm. As time passes, he forgets about his reponsibility and focuses on his life until the volcano errupts. He remembers the drum and plays it until the volcano calms down and by doing this he saves his village.
