This was a really fun book to read, the plot was engaging and exciting. It was suspenseful and thrilling, I really loved how the characters interacted with each other and how the plot progressed. I really enjoyed reading this and didn’t want it to end (aside from hoping everything worked out at the end!) and hope that perhaps there will be a sequel, which would be awesome!

When Akerly stumbled into a confrontation between a young native American girl and a group of Mexican drug runners in the Arizona desert he had no idea just how much trouble he had gotten himself into.
I loved this book, the plotting was excellent, the lead character was mysterious and the supporting cast were quirky and memorable.
There were plenty of thrills and twists along the way and you’re never quite sure who are the good guys and who are the bad.
Lots of witty remarks from the lead character and a great link up between him and the local deputy Martinez who is strong female co-lead give the book a really easy style that keeps you turning pages well into the night
The author has put a lot of effort into researching the flora and fauna of the setting as well as including just enough technical detail on weapons and other tech to keep it interesting without heading off into too much gun-nut jargon
A cross between Rambo & Jack Reacher, Akerly is a first class character and hopefully the author has many more stories in the pipeline for him… (mehr)

Hardboiled style action-adventure book. I'm not normally a fan of action stories but I enjoyed this read. The author executed the hardboiled writing style superbly. The story itself is like any James Bond thriller flick, and the setting in rural Arizona added interest. Overall, an enjoyable read.
