Über den Autor

Paul Kirchner was working with, Cirillo on this biography at the time of Jim's untimely death in 2007. Kirchner draws on his extensive interviews with Cirillo, his family, friends, ex-partner Bill Allard, and other SOU officers to create a vivid portrait of an affable and gregarious man who mehr anzeigen nonetheless was the last man many armed robbers saw on this earth. In previously unpublished accounts, Cirillo describes in detail numerous stakeouts and sets the record straight about what he and the other SOU members actually accomplished on the streets of New York. Cirillo also talks about his early years as a street cop and his service with the NYPD Emergency Service Unit; his successes as a lifelong competitive shooter; his distinguished career as a firearms trainer; his unique relationship with Jeff Cooper; his carry guns and the guns of the SOU; and much more. Cirillo's unique voice and humor enliven every page, resulting in a fitting, lasting tribute to a legendary police officer, shooting instructor, gunfighter, and raconteur. weniger anzeigen

Stuck in mind since first seen in Heavy Metal magazine, put on Christmas list and — surprise — there it was. Wife averred it was an investment, but it came direct from the author, signed and with bonus material.

A quick "read" since it's mostly single-page comics without dialogue, it's a trippy ride or, more accurately, a series of them. Mr. Kirchner's careful hand and unbound imagination combine to befuddle and bemuse.

What makes this book all the more interesting for me is that Kirchner has uncovered a wealth of eyewitness accounts of deadly duels through eye witness reports, newspaper accounts and trial transcripts.

The author begins the introduction with a duel of honor and goes on to recount some 60 duels done with swords and pistols; including horseback duels, bowie knife duels, suicide duels and profiles of notorious duelists.

For someone interested in the concept of honor this is a fascinating book. Or, for an enjoyable read of an unique subject this is a great book for anyone.… (mehr)
