He is cruel, ruthless, out for vengeance, and she is just a pawn in his way. Beck Claremont hates the Vos family so much that he is determined to bring them down no matter who stands in his way. When Josie shows up to town hating her new life, her father, and a family she doesn’t know Beck sees this as his window of opportunity to bring her stepbrother down. They were friends at one point in time but now they are mortal enemies with wealth on their side and all Josie wants is to fly under their radar and get out as soon as possible. Beck tries so hard to hate her and he does to some extent but as he gets to see more and understand more of her, he realizes his feelings are all mixed up. They both fight their attractions because they know it can only end in disaster, but sometimes the pull is too strong. I loved the angst and push/pull they had to each other, I was routing for them to figure out they had so much in common that they would push through the anger, but sometimes fate has other plans that come in the form of manipulative family members. (sidenote: I’m not a fan of her dad or Lucas at all) This does end in a cliffhanger but the next one will be out not too far behind and I am so glad for that because I am dying for more. The story had me tied up in knots wondering what would come next and the end had me so shook that I’m on pins and needles. This is a story that I’ll be going over and over in my head until we get their ending, and it was worth every second I was on the edge!! “He was a terrible decision that I knew I would choose again.”… (mehr)

Ever since the ending of book one I have bee dying to get my hands on this book. This picks up right where book one ends with so many lies, deception, secrets, and misunderstandings rule this kingdom. Beck betrayed Josie in a way that has absolutely shattered her heart and soul, so now she is determined to hold her head high and act as if she isn’t affected by the events. What Josie doesn’t know or understand is that Beck never meant for things to spiral out of control as they did, and he will do anything to get his girl back. Beck is determined to show Josie his feelings for her a real and what they had isn’t over yet, but Josie is even more determined to not let Beck under her skin and back in her heart. With so many lies, secrets, and villains lurking around can these two find their way back to each other or has Beck ultimately ruined it all? Can Josie ever learn to trust again, or can a heart be mended again after shattering into many pieces? I don’t want to give too much away because the heartache, betrayals, and lies should all be felt as they bleed off the pages and into the reader’s heart. Il oved Beck and Josie was routing for them to find something again, I hated those around them that tried to ruin them like Cami, Josie’s dad, Lucas. Beck’s friends and Josie’s were amazing and supportive of them both, always had their backs, and the friendship she started with Frankie was heartwarming. The twist at the end I kind of guessed but was still shocked by it and was hoping that those involved would be thrown to the trash like they deserved. This book blew me away, made me feel everything that they went through, stole my breath and heart. I can’t wait for more!!… (mehr)

I knew before heading into this book that it would be an emotional one because in Beck’s story, we saw glimpses of things between Carson and Allie, we just didn’t know the why. Carson lives to make Allie’s world a living hell and he enjoys the pain he causes her. Allie knows why Carson feels this way but to go from being best friends to absolutely nothing hurt her more than any of his words ever would. They both feel wronged in ways they don’t share, and both loved the other but never would say, so they go years of this back-and-forth brewing. After years of torment Allie wants to move on and when she tries Carson is always there to stop it. Now Carson is showing interest and finally starts to open to some extent, but Allie can’t help but to be skeptical. Allie thinks he has something else planned to torment her and while he was honest at first about why he was showing interest, she never believed him. Carson’s intentions were good just misplaced by years of anger built up and even if he was honest that kind of trust doesn’t come back easily. Carson gets Allie to be friends of sorts again, but he is always the one standing in his way because he doesn’t deem himself worthy and refuses to burden Allie with what he can’t give her. They circle each other wanting each other but things are always intervening, and now can they even get back to where they were or are they doomed to be enemies the rest of their lives. My heart hurt for Carson with his family life, but he was worth so much more than he gives himself credit for if only he could stop pretending and go after what he wants. Allie was tired of being his punching bag, but she fell for it again and now they are back at square one. I loved getting to see Carson’s other side he tries to hide by pretending to be something else and their dynamic together was off the charts. This does end of a cliffhanger, and I am dying to see how or if they can get back to where they were honest and open with each other.… (mehr)

After that ending, we got in Taste of an Enemy I knew that Carson would have his work cut out for him if he planned on having Allie back in his life. Things between them are strained as ever and while Carson may have had good intentions with his plan he still failed epically. Allie is beyond hurt because she trusted Carson again with her heart, body, and soul but now she seems to think all he is ever good for is letting her down. I wanted these two together because anyone could see they were made for each other, but with so many obstacles in their way how can they get pass past hurts? Will Carson stop his façade and pushing those close to him away when things hit home a little too closely? Can Carson learn to open to Allie and learn how to gain her trust back? Is Allie able to put her pain to the side to stand by Carson when he needs her the most or is their pain too much for them to handle together? This book was so emotional, and I loved every second of it. Carson’s growth is such an amazing thing to see and when Allie sees what his home life is like and his pain, he endures she finds herself falling once again, but is it enough for them? This was perfection to the conclusion for Carson and Allie, I loved every second, couldn’t stop reading it, and felt their pain/hurt that I wanted to hold them and never let go. I can’t wait to see what direction Olly’s story will go and if he gets the girl he has always wanted.… (mehr)
