Good starting point but not for reference. I read the entire thing in about 3 hours and learned nothing new. If this had been one of the first sherlockian references I read then it would have been perfect.

Just what it says. It includes very full summaries of all Christie's writings (jncluding plays and short stories as well as novels) and incidental articles of a variety of topics. To me the summaries are more useful than the incidentals. It discusses the movie versions of many of her books, with pictures of actors ad actresses etc.

I've had this for ages and completely forgot about it for years, but it's still very useful to have as a reference. I marked the books I've read, just to help me keep track. I'm very happy to have rediscovered it on my bookshelf!

Some nice Sherlock info here, but nothing that hardcore Sherlock-philes wouldn't already know.

A mishmash of items about Agatha Christie, but not any of her writings...small font makes it difficult to read at night, and heavy size makes it not for bathtubs. As an armchair companion maybe, but it's much more a reference, browser book than one to read it cover- to- cover.½

I don't feel quite safe reading the summaries in this book; they're a little bit spoilery. It's not as important as finding out who the murderer is, but I don't LIKE learning who is murdered before the murder takes place!

An essential guide to all of Agatha's books. There are neat little anecdotes as well as information on the various movies made from her books. I love reading the corresponding essay to whichever book I’ve just finished. There are also crossword puzzles and word searches in it! A really fun book.

Review: The Bedside, Bathtub & Armchair Companion to Sherlock Holmes by Dick Riley & Pam McAllister is an attractive book, engagingly written and profusely illustrated in black & white.
The authors have done their homework, and their essays on, for instance, the British peerage, drug use and abuse, and Sherlockian parody & pastiche, are brief but often enlightening. They seem sound on Holmesian societies, though a few addresses might have been helpful.
