Note: I received an ARC of this book from the publisher at ALA Midwinter 2018.
Though this may not be a popular book, it's certainly a great one. This hidden gem has been in my personal collection for the better part of 10 years now and I re-read it every year and loan it out to all the teenagers in my life who are struggling with who they are. Each of them has bought their own copy.

Eight-year-old EllRay is down to one-and-a-half best friends, which leads his little sister to point out the obvious: he needs new friends. A spare, at least. For emergencies.
