Brad inherits a heritage farm from his uncle. In order to keep the heritage farm status, it needs to be run by someone of the same blood, and that someone also has to live there. While Brad loved his uncle and loves his family, he is a middle school science teacher and also loves his job. Brad learns that he has also inherited a pub, and it is there that he meets Caleb. Caleb has come back from St Louis after a breakup with his boyfriend and is kind of at loose ends. There is no way he is going to hang around his hometown, living with his parents, but in the meantime, he is helping out at a pub that his dad serves at. When Brad learns that Caleb is a business major, he gets him involved in trying to improve business and helping to maybe set up other businesses that will sustain the farm.
This all just seemed so far-fetched. And I couldn't really feel the chemistry between Caleb and Brad. We know that they find each other attractive, but they don't spend a lot of time together on page. Or off it, really. Most of the story is spent on Brad and his family and how he comes to accept getting a farm. His family is pretty awesome, and the connection between them is nice to see, which is why I'm giving a book that didn't really make an impression on me with very little connection between the main characters this rating.
