Young Girl Tennis Champion

In the late 60's/very early 70's when I was in elementary school, I read a book several times about a young girl who learned to play tennis and then overcame some sort of challenge to become a champion. I recall that the book had a yellow cover and it was probably for an age range of 10-12, if I had to guess. It was a very good book, and I would love to find it again.

What country was it read in? Was it a stand alone book? Or series book? Eg. Fifth Year Friendships at Trebizon by Anne Digby or The Tennis Term at Trebizon by Anne Digby. What kind of "challenge"?

Great! I had a hunch that was the one. Nan Gilbert is a good author (I've read A Dog for Joey by her). All I did to find it was search on WorldCat.org using tennis in the keywords, limited to books, juvenile fiction, and the year range mentioned above, and English language, then went through the pages... luckily it was there. :)

You can find copies on abe.com or bookfinder.com, though you may want the specific hardcover edition for that cover.
