I need to read one of the following for a personal challenge. This is not my normal genre so I need something easy to read (as in breezy writing style, not necessarily theme.)

Any recommendations?

Alive by Read, Piers Paul
Arabian Sands by Thesiger, Wilfred
Arctic Dreams by Lopez, Barry
Desert Solitaire by Abbey, Edward
Endurance by Worsley, F.A.
Great Plains by Frazier, Ian
In Patagonia by Chatwin, Bruce
The Long Way by Moitessier, Bernard
My Journey to Lhasa by David-Neel, Alexandra
Old Glory by Raban, Jonathan
Perfect Storm, The by Junger, Sebastian
Running the Amazon by Kane, Joe
Sailing Alone Around the World by Slocum, Joshua
Short Walk in the Hindu Kush, A by Newby, Eric
Touching the Void by Simpson, Joe
Tracks by Davidson, Robyn
West with the Night by Markham, Beryl
Wind, Sand and Stars by de Saint-Exupery, Antoine
Worst Journey in the World, The by Cherry-Garrard, Apsley
Young Men and Fire by Maclean, Norman

I haven't read any of them, but it looks like a fun list, so thank you for posting it!

Well, for the completist, the following are the books from the list that I have already read and didn't include in the list above:

Coming into the Country by McPhee, John
Into Thin Air by Krakauer, Jon
Kon-Tiki by Heyerdahl, Thor
Snow Leopard, The by Matthiessen, Peter (unable to read past the first chapter)
Walk in the Woods, A by Bryson, Bill (LOVED!)

Hmmm, not familiar with these. I'd be interested in what you choose.

The only one I've read is A short walk in the Hindu Kush. Newby is an entertaining writer, and quite humourous as I recall, in a self-deprecating sort of manner - it's about 20 years since I read it, but I did read another of his too on the strength of that one.

I'm leaning toward The Perfect Storm only because it's the only one I've even heard of though the subject itself is rather depressing.

From that list I've read Arctic Dreams and West With the Night. They were both very good. The Markham book had a light, easy style and was incredibly interesting.
My Journey to Lhasa looks interesting. I'll have to look for that one.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll give A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush and West with the Night a try.

Thanks for posting the rest of the list. I really enjoyed Into Thin Air, so that's a good recommendation for the other books--plus a lot of them have really high ratings. I hope you enjoy the ones you chose.
