City of Pleasanton, CA Big Read

Program Description: Pleasanton will participate in The Big Read in a big way! We’ll “Hunt for The Maltese Falcon” during a downtown street fair. Las Positas College will present a film noir festival. Writers John Lescroart, Robert Dugoni, Mark Coggins, and members of the Sisters in Crime will explore the dark world of mystery fiction. Michael Shepler, will speak on jazz and film noir. Mayor Jennifer Hosterman will present a falconry demonstration. Towne Center Books will sponsor book club discussions, culminating in “The Big Discussion,” featuring a dramatic reading by Calaveras Repertory Theater. We will wrap up with a 1920s-themed library gala.
