I am looking for a book I think I ordered from those Scholastic catalogs they used to hand out in school! It is about a teacher who migrates west and of course there are two suitors. A rancher and I think a newspaper man. The rancher is quiet and a lot is made of how hard her life would be if she were to choose him. His hair (black curls) are mentioned a lot, as well. I remember when they finally get together at the end, she says something along the lines of finally being able to run her hand through his curls. There is one scene where she is knocked out in her house and the rancher finds her. I cannot remember why she would have been knocked out. I think the rancher's name is Clint and the newspaper man is Jeremy or something similar. I think it had a black or dark cover. It would have been printed late 80s or in the 90s. If someone could solve this for me, I can finally step away from google and live my life!

Found: A Deadly Promise by Joan Lowery Nixon

Was this a Sunfire Romance? Could it be Margaret by Jane Claypool Miner?

I don't think it was a Sunfire romance. I read the synopsis and the rancher was not a student. I think I remember that the characters were older too - not in their teens. Thanks for responding. This is really driving me crazy!

Maybe A Deadly Promise by Joan Lowery Nixon? It was published in 1993 and has characters named Sarah, Clint and Jeremy.

That is it! I was WAY off on the plot. Funny how those things can warp over time. Thank you so much!
