This is a Harlequin presents book I think. The heroine I'm not sure her name might have been mary or Margret. The hero is Simon. He has a little boy named Benji or Ben. He's around 6 to 8 yrs old. Simon is a widower and his wife died during child birth. The h is mid twenties with long blonde hair, she has a bf named Michael who's away at college or something. She's lying on the grass with the sun shinning on her with her eyes closed thinking of Michael ,when someone kisses her and she smiles thinking its Michael as she kisses him back. Its all very passionate u until she opens her eyes to see simon not Michael looking down at her. She quickly sits up shocked saying " simon, I thought you were Michael " simon said " admittedly I came out here to fetch you for your mother and only meant to kiss you to wake you, although I didn't mean to so thorough going about it. As it seems that I stole Michaels' kiss could I have my own?"
They kiss gently but briefly and simon tells her Michael is waiting inside. She gets excited and runs to the house with simon yelling for her to wait. As she gets inside she sees Michael with another young woman as he introduced her to her parents as his fiancée. She grows faint saying " Michael you can't..." But simon comes in and kisses her then she faints. Simon answers her parents questions while she's asleep saying she had too much sun. She wakes up in her bedroom and finds simon watching her. She remembered what happened and thanks him for not letting her make a total cake of herself. She said she'll explain to her parents that they're not getting married but he says that its up to her sort of, she says we don't love each other. He Says I do hold a deep fondness for you and while it may not be love its a better start then most and will serve to make a good marriage. She does marry simon, they make love, she moves in with him and his son knows and adores her.
They honeymoon alone and she falls for her husband but as time moves on, she wants a baby of her own. She talks about things with simon but he says I think you have enough to do with Ben. He says we'll talk later but one night she forgets to take her pill. She's pregnant but simon is angry about it but later apologized and she finds out that his late wife Jill died during childbirth. Simon wakes her having a nightmare and he makes sure she's there before holding her while going to sleep.
The book ends with h wanting to know how simon feels about her, claiming he can't love anyone but Jill. He tells her she's wrong, that he loves her and that what he and Jill had was like lightning, love at first sight. He says what he feels for her was gradual and slow but deep, deeper then he could have imagined. They kiss I think but I don't remember how it ends from there.
