Medieval romance

Hi, I can't remember the name of this book I read several years ago. The heroine (T?) Her name may or may not be Taryn, was pledged to a man her brother has chosen. She devises a plan to have the Lord take her virginity with Droit du seigneur. She goes to him in the middle of the night and he denies her until he hears her screaming the morning of her wedding and comes upon her being held down while they check her virginity with a midwife. The Lord then tells her he did not give her permission to leave his bed. The midwife becomes suspicious of why she would fight so hard if whe wasnt a virgin. The Lod over hears and takes a knife and cuts right where his ribs are to put his blood on the sheets for proof. I recall there was a woman who ran the castle named Maude? The only other things I remember is she had red hair and there was a mercenary with one eye named Simon. If anyone could help me find this book that would be great! This has been driving me absolutely nuts!Thanks in advance.
