I never heard of Colleen Hoover but she apparently raked it in last year. I read Where the Crawdads Sing and thought it was a stinker. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is on my TBR pile.

Hoover is new to me too, must be a master at promotion or got very lucky. Unusual to see one name dominate like that.

Reading the reviews, it appears TikTok had something to do with it. Its promo power puts even Oprah in the shade, but it's like winning the lottery if it points at you.

Reading some of the reviews of Hoover’s books, I doubt I would ever pick one up. One reviewer called it “trauma porn” and I gather there is lots of abuse and broken characters along with lots of sex. Someone should write a sociology paper on why this is so popular now.

I wasn’t impressed by Will Smith’s autobiography. He tried so hard to be self aware and failed to a degree. Wondering how he will view it ten years down the road. I didn’t finish it.
Also sampled McConaughey‘s work, but it was so uninteresting.
