Hi there! What I can remember:
Male character:
-I think his name is Jace
-Rich rancher who inherited ranch from his dad (I think dad is named “Jason”)
-“Jason” marries a woman with a daughter and over time Jace falls in love with the daughter. He spoils her but doesn’t want to admit it’s more than a “big brother” affection.
-Dad knows his son and “stepdaughter” love each other and wants to see them together before he dies
-Dad planted flowers outside “daughter’s” window because she loves flowers.
-Rancher doesn’t want to admit he loves the girl, and hires a woman (I think her name is Meredith?) to act as his girlfriend so he can resist her.
Female Character-
I can’t remember her name!!!
Once the dad dies, she thinks the son/rancher she loves is going to send her away.
-She is sweet, innocent and likes girly things and is a bit spoiled but not a brat.
-She is sent off to college and returns home

>1 MommaC73: I haven't read them, but Diana Palmer has a book called Heartless with a stepbrother and stepsister (stepbrother's name is Jason) and she has another book called The Cowboy and the Lady with a guy named Jace.
If these aren't them, could you tell us what "contemporary" means - was it written in the past few years? Or when did you read it?

Hello! Thank you for answering! I read this book probably about 5 or 6 years ago. I said contemporary because it was in more recent times, not an older western. It talks about him owning a small private plane that brings her home. And although he is a rancher, it’s not really a cowboy type theme. More of a businessman who has a ranch. I know she has lived in the home since she was a child, and since she got older (she’s in her early 20s I think) he developed feelings for her and is trying his best to deny it. It’s so frustrating because I remember so much, just not the most important details!

>6 MommaC73: Ah, I get it - not a historical. Thanks! I'll keep looking.
