Backstory:
I have been trying to find this book I read in high school - I graduated in 2018.
I believe I read it in 2016 or 2017.
The Cover:
(I THINK) It was of a black kid male with half of his face on the cover, could be wrong.
The Plot:
The first entry into the series was about a Protagonist kid from a town, he makes friends with other kids in the town but is hunted down by something then at the end he eventually dies and becomes a ghost, the next (2nd) entry of the series follows another kid Protagonist who was friends of the (1st) Kid who died at the end of the (1st book) who is now a ghost and helps his alive friend (who is now the new protagonist) solve the Ghost Kids Murder

Supernatural series featuring a protagonist child who befriends town residents but meets a tragic end, transforming into a ghost. The sequel introduces a new protagonist, a former friend of the deceased child, who receives spectral assistance from the deceased child in solving the murder of that ghost child.
