A picture book from my youth. Could be published anytime from 1990's-mid 2000's. Possibly Australian.
The illustrations were very colourful and almost gruesome in the intricacy. There was a monster or goblin type thing. I remember he had gross feet with long toenails. And there was some theme of shes (I think he stole people's shoes?). Have been looking for this book for years - gone through many good reads lists but no dice yet.

Wow are we possibly looking for the same book at the same time? I also remember a book from my youth (90s) that creeped me out. I just found "The Lost Boy and the Monster" (from 1999) and ordered it from amazon since I can't find any pictures online aside from the cover and one other page where the boy is tied up in a rope which didn't seem familiar to me...but the art style sort of seemed right.
I found a website that describes it as: Strete's (They Thought They Saw Him) unremarkable tale with dramatic artwork introduces Old Foot Eater, a monster whose diet consists of ""little children's feet."" The beast hangs a sticky rope from a tree to ensnare the feet of unsuspecting young passersby.
...so this could possibly be it based on the foot thing. If it isn't this book then I also would love to get anyone's help/insight on this. I'll post images when the book arrives in a couple weeks.
