looking for series I heard of. Male characters are vampires (I think) the female characters or their "soul mates" have a blood disorder that requires the draining of their blood in order for them to live. In one of the books in the series the male character is "captured" by the father of his "soul mate." She is there with her brother and she is dying. The father is capturing vampires to try to find a "cure" for his daughter. Eventually the male vampire takes her away from the father and she ends up pregnant. Anyone heard of it, sound familiar, or know the author?

I have read a book that sounds similar. The author is Lara Adrian and it is the Midnight Breed series. The Vampires are only male, and their 'mates' are women who have a special birth mark. It is a different take on vampires, they are descendants of an alien race that crashed on earth long ago. I hope this is what you were thinking about. I read Kiss of Midnight and i really liked it.

I believe the series you're actually looking for is by Susan Sizemore. I believe she's the one with the crazy blood type by the female and the males that protect them until they either die an early death or are are turned and in the series they wind up being the mates for the ones that are watching for them. Then there is the crazy lab that they are all hiding from. The boy they all try to protect and then his daughter after that. I know I've read this series I just can't remember for sure if it's this author. Hope this helps.
