Lesson One: Brahman and You.

BRAHMAN not the cow: essential, unchanging----All knowledge is objective------Reality, the Godhead. Brahman is Existence itself. Consciousness itself.
Christian translation: God the Father

CONCEPT:

"Vedanta teaches that the stuff of this universe is an effect or power of Brahman God the Father, Existence, Consciousness, Reality. It stands to Brahman in the same relation as heat to fire. THEY ARE INSEPARABLE-----hence the whole "the real nature of man is divine"-----."

PROBLEM:
----------
Brahman does not intervene with the world's affairs.

POSSIBLE QUESTION:
----------------------
"Why does God permit evil?"
is to a Vedantist as meaningless as
"Why does God permit good?"

ILLUSTRATION:

The fire burns one man.
And warms another.

"An inhuman philosophy? Certainly. Brahman God the Father, Reality IS NOT HUMAN. We must beware of thinking about the Reality in relative terms. IT is not simply a giant person. IT has nothing to do with OUR shifting standards of good and evil, pleasure, unhappiness, right and wrong."


LESSON I LEARNED:
That God Brahman is not sitting in the sky. God is not toying with us, tricking us one day and the next giving us a treat. God is UNCHANGEABLE and DIVINE. We mess with ourselves.

Interesting stuff. This is why I'm so amused by Christians who still see God from the Mythic standpoint. Seems like this was posted ages ago. Have you given up on this group or are we going to see some more posts in the near future?
