Teaching children how to manage their thoughts and words without interrupting. Louis always interrupts! All of his thoughts are very important to him, and when he has something to say, his words rumble and grumble in his tummy, they wiggle and jiggle on his tongue and then they push on his teeth, right before he ERUPTS (or interrupts). His mouth is a volcano! But when others begin to interrupt Louis, he learns how to respectfully wait for his turn to talk. My Mouth Is A Volcano takes an empathetic approach to the habit of interrupting and teaches children a witty technique to help them manage their rambunctious thoughts and words. Told from Louis' perspective, this story provides parents, teachers, and counselors with an entertaining way to teach children the value of respecting others by listening and waiting for their turn to speak.… (mehr)

A young boy whose words flow out like an eruption learns not to interrupt.
I know some adults whose mouths are "like a volcano". I'd like to recommend this book to them! ( )

This is a delightful book about a boy named Louis who is always interrupting others because his thoughts and words are extremely important. He compares his mouth to a volcano erupting as it cannot be controlled. The illustrations are fun and the words are written in a whimsical way. When Louis is interrupted by his classmates, he learns that it does not feel good to not be respected. He learns to practice more self control when others are talking and wait his turn.

This story helps students understand the importance and value in their words but also the importance of patience and respect. The boy in the story cannot seem to stop interrupting others while they talk and finally begins to understand that it is rude and he should wait until others are finished to speak. This story teaches children how to raise their hand and wait to be called on. ( )

The book focuses on teaching children about the importance of thinking before speaking and interrupting others. The young boy in the story struggles with controlling his impulsive words and often interrupts others. Throughout the story he learn to recognize the impact of his words on others and develop strategies to manage his impulses. This literature will help children learn about self-control and social skills while promoting positive communication.

This book is a great way to help students understand that everyone wants to talk but we have to wait out turn and be respectful. This book is for ages 5-8. I found this book at the library. ( )
