It’s action-packed, right down to the very satisfying end. The author’s credentials as legendary award-winning law enforcement pro, SWAT team leader and commander, made me want to read the book, which I won in a giveaway. And his first-hand experience in Irvine, CA, where the story of serial murder takes place, made for compelling description full of behind-the-scenes information about dept. and community politics, policies, special weapons, training, technology—more than you get to see in movies and TV. The story’s full of fascinating detail, insight and gritty observations from real crimes, as stated in the foreword. As the story develops, the reader discovers who the serial killer is, and gets to hear his warped reasoning. You also get to follow the progression of a relationship between Lieutenant Hunter, aka Lincoln9, and an attractive co-worker. Those fascinated by police procedurals hit paydirt with Lincoln9. And it leaves you with an even greater respect for the men and women who protect us with practiced precision, discipline and skill. ( ) keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

When Bethany Crutchfield failed to show for Sunday brunch, and her father¿s phone calls remained unanswered, it became apparent that concern was warranted regarding her welfare. Police officers from ¿America¿s Safest City,¿ Irvine, California, discovered a gruesome homicide scene which established Bethany as the first in a series of murders that would ultimately span over a decade.
Lincoln 9 takes place in a city whose reputation for safety and affluence overshadows the fact that the relatively few annual homicides are among the most vicious and complex cases of human brutality ever to be solved. This is a story of three such cases, combined into a fictional plot and characters, but based upon real crimes and real police officers who risked their lives to bring justice to the perpetrators of these heinous acts of violence.
Lincoln 9 follows the career of Lieutenant Scott Hunter, the consummate cop who rises to a level of responsibility that enables him to lead a team of detectives on a mission aimed at connecting the clues toward solving these crimes. His tactical skills and martial arts accomplishments serve as enhancements to his ability to capably work the streets as well as analyze conflicting trails of evidence. These talents not only instilled confidence in the members of his elite unit, but drew the attention of an attractive co-worker remarkably matched in interest and intellect.
The story conveys the pressures associated with working within an organization that hires only 4% of its applicants, and whose efforts result in perennial accolades for achieving the nation¿s lowest numbers of violent crime in large cities. In addition, it introduces a look behind the curtain of secrecy shielding the role played by Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Teams in the development of leaders.
