His mother is sick and they decide to help him. I loved seeing how the girls work together and learn about sacrifice and loss as a family. This is the sweetest series. The story is set in New York City's Lower East Side in the Jewish community. Based on the author's own experiences, the little vignettes always feels so real. Charlie is growing up, Ella gets a big role in the Purim play, Henny gets into trouble at school and runs away from home, Sarah gets her ears pierced, Charlotte has a scary kitchen accident, and Gertie finally is old enough to have a book of her own. Life is never dull for this one-of-a-kind family! The All-of-a-Kind Family books were some of my mother's favorites growing up so of course I read them as a child. I recently re-read them and still enjoyed them as an adult. There are some parts of them that are rather problematic from a religious tolerance perspective but in general they stand the test of time and are sweet well written books. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

HTML: Sydney Taylor grew up among immigrant families on New York City's Lower East Side prior to World War I and wrote the "All-of-a-Kind Family" series for her daughter. This sequel finds talented Ella, mischievous Henny, studious Sarah, dreamy Charlotte, and little Gertie helping Mama with their new baby brother, Charlie. Sydney Taylor's charming books capture the everyday life of a home with little money but lots of love and good times to share. .Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
