Good story, fast paced ( ) This book was a really compeling and a super fast pace mystery set in the background of a murdery mystry set in the singing world. This book has massive triggers for abuse and gromming. I really did love the duel time line of this story. I think this story really did craft how this gromming process could occur. I though this was a super fast pace read. I did think the ending was a bit rushed and open ended but i still enoyed it and hope to read more by this author in the future, This book was a really compeling and a super fast pace mystery set in the background of a murdery mystry set in the singing world. It may be a YA book but it wasn't afraid to tackle real and important issues. On the surface it seems like a ripped from the headlines R. Kelly retelling. I think while that's certainly a take-away you can go with I think there is another level that is meant to be explored and exposed. It is about rape culture. It is about a societal blind eye that prevails against women and men in power, especially women of color and men in power. This book will make you angry because it just doesn't seem like any of this should be able to happen but we know it does and that's horrifying and it just makes you angry that it can happen. That it does happen. One voice should be enough, especially when that voice says, "no." wow. this was really intense, and such an important read. she really (from what i remember of working with girls who were trafficked and in the life) really captures the reality of grooming and what it looks like. as hard as it is to read, she made it more palatable for readers by leaving out a lot of the more extreme violence (sexual and otherwise). i really like the way she made us start to question enchanted's mental stability (so there may have been more violence, she was just blocking it out; also very typical) - like for a while there we i wish she hadn't felt the need for the mystery part. did enchanted kill korey? if not, who did? i didn't really care about that and i get that, at the end, that enchanted was saving herself by figuring out the mystery, but for me this just pulled down the book a bit. still, i think i'm going to be finding everything that tiffany d jackson writes. this is the second of hers i've read and i think i will need to read everything else. she's so talented a writer and her themes are so important. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
