This is the second book I have read from this series and so far it has been a good read! I really enjoyed the setting in this book. The details of Scotland are beautiful! I have come to like the main character Ivy. Yes she is a little too perfect but the author added some of her inner thoughts and you can help but like her she's sweet and innocent. The pace is ok and the plot doesn't really have much action but the pace and plot blend well with the characters and everything else that is going on. Overall it's a relaxing read.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Beyond Her Calling is the fourth book in The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy Series by Kellyn Roth. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so mu h. Kellyn Roth is a phenomenal writer, and I love her writing style. Beyond Her Calling is Ivy’s story. She is somewhat confused about what she should do. And after a lot of prayer she ends up at the McCale House on Scotland. Little did she know she would meet Jordy and Claire, and thry would soon be her friends. Life was not easy for this trio, especially Ivy. I could relate to Ivy with some things. My heart went out to her a lot in this book. I plan on reading this book and the entire series again soon.

Kellyn Roth is amazing. I love her characters and I love how the develop throughout the book. In this book, Ivy had a lot to learn and sometimes it wasn’t always easy. But it was fun following her, and I love the trip to Scotland. A place I have always wanted to go. With Roth’s high in research and phenomenal detailed writing of each scene, this story pulled me in so deep that I felt like I was right there in Scotland with them. I love that about this book. I also love how Roth has her characters live the Christian life throughout the book. I love Ivy’s love for the Lord and his she wants to serve Him. And she does this in such a subtle way. Beyond Her Calling is one you do not want to miss if you enjoy this type of book. I strongly encourage you to check this book out for your enjoyment.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255. ( )

Ivy McKnight experienced great personal growth during the two years that she spent at McCale House in Scotland, but five years later, she's still unsure of her purpose in life. Ivy is given a chance to return to Scotland with her friend Violet Angel, and her life changes again. She enjoys a reunion with Dr. and Mrs. McCale, meets new acquaintances, and connects once again with Jordy McAllen, her former friend who is now a doctor. Jordy is stunned with Ivy's beauty and sees her in an entirely different light, but how will Ivy feel about him?

It was such a treat to reunite with beloved characters Ivy, Violet, and Jordy. Mental health issues continue to be a big part of Beyond Her Calling, and Violet still displays bi-polar behavior, but Ivy's friendship and her strong Christian beliefs are once again like a calming balm for the troubled Violet. Jordy is now a believer also, but his hopes for a future with Amy may be destroyed by a devastating secret that she may not be able to forgive!

Kellyn Roth shares a powerful faith message in this satisfying conclusion of The Chronicles of Alice and Amy. I recommend Beyond Her Calling to all who enjoy Christian romance and Victorian historical fiction.

I received a copy of this book from the author via iRead Book Tours. There was no obligation for a favorable review. These are my own thoughts. ( )

Sigh. We now come to the end of this incredible series with book four: Beyond Her Calling. Ivy is so unique and memorable, and I’ve grown to love her and her sweet spirit. What an unforgettable and stirring character.

In this book, we visit Scotland. Yay! I’ve visited in real life and feel the author capture the beauty and essence quite well. And that accent. Another sigh.

I didn’t want this story to end. I didn’t want the series to end. But it did and I leave it feeling edified and inspired. I rarely read an entire series one after the other, and what an experience that is. I’ve spent so much time with these characters that I now consider them friends.

Ivy’s search for meaning and God’s plan for her life are touching. Though the pacing isn’t brisk, I enjoyed spending time sorting through her journey. I also enjoyed the friends to romance—one of my favorite tropes. This series is Christian fiction, but it certainly doesn’t avoid difficult subjects and realities of everyday life. Yet all of it is written tastefully and meaningfully.

I’ve enjoyed spending time with Ivy, Jordy, and (sometimes) Violet, and really sank into the themes of finding one’s calling and overcoming our pasts. Ivy is truly inspirational and they way she embraces friendship and family warms my heart. This book (and series) gives me all the feels and will stay with me.

After reading the first three books from Kellyn Roth’s series, The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy, I have quickly been drawn to her writing. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters from this series and continuing to see them grow and learn in each book. They have become like family to me. I was excited to have the opportunity to read the fourth installment, Beyond Her Calling. I was far from being disappointed. I believe this one is my favorite of the series so far. It was a delight to take this journey with Ivy again. It was a joy to catching with her and seeing where she is now. I loved her interactions with Jordy when they meet. I thought they had great chemistry and was hoping all would turn out for them. I had to keep reading to find out it would all end between the two. I loved every single page.

I am giving Beyond Her Calling a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical romantic fiction. I am looking forward to the fifth installment from The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series, A Prayer Unanswered, to see what happens next with these characters. I am curious to find out what Kellyn Roth has in store for them.

I received a paperback copy of Beyond Her Calling from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion. ( )
