In Miami, the Executioner sees an opportunity to end his war in one fell swoop At the home of the mob capo of Arizona, a silhouette slips across the yard, kills two guards with a silenced pistol, and eases inside the house. Mack Bolan, the ruthless sniper known as the Executioner, has come to cleanse Phoenix of Mafia rule, but the boss is not at home. He's on a plane to Miami, to a meeting of every capo in the country, and his agenda has only one item: destroy the Executioner once and for all.   Bolan had planned to fight his way across the country, taking out branches of the crime syndicate one by one, but the Miami summit presents a chance to destroy the Mafia with one single blow. The leading lights of organized crime are being guarded by the two toughest killers the Executioner has ever faced, and the beaches of the Sunshine State will soon be awash in blood.… (mehr)

When Miami Massacre was first published in 1970, it is the waning
days of the Age of Aquarius and men are returning from Vietnam,
finding that there are other wars to fight just as tough. Bolan, earlier
in the series ("War Against The Mafia"), returns home to Los Angeles
to find the Mafia has ruined his family, driven them to despair, suicide,
and more. Known as " the Executioner," Bolan declares war on all the
tough guys the Mafia can muster. Thus, begins one of the great Men's
Adventure series of the seventies. Something like a Dirty Harry movie
or a later hero The Rock taking on a whole crew of bad guys by his
lonesome in Walking Tall, Mack Bolan is the one-man take-no-
prisoners rescue-damsels-in-distress guy you all want to be.
Action is the name of the game in a Mack Bolan story, not
philosophical niceties. Bolan takes the war to the Mafia bosses in
Phoenix and Miami, attacking them wherever he can find them. On the
way, he enlists the help of Cuban rebels and a Valkyrie warrior,
Margarita.
If you are looking for intense action from start to finish, you'll never go
wrong with any of the books in this series and certainly not this one. ( )

Beach party! and the intro, albeit very brief, of the Talifero brothers. It is about time some kind of high calibre mercs were brought in, as opposed to the stupid antics of the Mafia.
And the beginning of a plan to make Bolan legal" is also started.

On a general overall note, here are some of my thoughts on the series so far.

Definitely a different world than today. Much is made about the Mafia, ala La Cosa Nostra, and how mysterious and strong they are. How the general populace thinks they are a fairytale.
I was thinking, does the U.S. even have a "Mob" problem in this day and age? I know they exist, but are they a real player in world politics?

Pendleton seems to go out of his way to justify what Bolan is doing. On one level, I can see why he does. While I am all for Law and Order, I also see how criminals, of all orders, bend and manipulate it to their advantage. And having a Vigilante who is guided by a strict set of morals would be awesome.

Romances. Each novel Bolan seems to come across some bimbo who he has some sort of connection with. It really doesn't fit with the overall themes of the series. I guess it adds something, but I find it more of a distraction..." ( )
