I like the boy's concern over doing the right thing by their neighbors as well as trying to save the foxes. A wonderful sense of place. ( ) This is a charming story about a group of boys whose home is a small island off the coast of Ireland. The local population is fixated on superstition and myths, with an especial hatred and animosity aimed at foxes, mainly for the supposed magical powers the animals wield. When the four young friends come across a pair of silver-furred foxes in the surf, survivors of an accident at sea, they plan to keep the foxes as long as they can, without breathing a word to anyone else. But how can they house, feed, and water the animals? And how long can they keep the foxes' existence a secret from those who would kill them? An enjoyable book, with enough detail about the island and its inhabitants to make it sound authentic. Recommended for all ages. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
